Syrian, 3300 BC
These mysterious amulets were found in a monumental building known as the ‘Eye Temple’ in Tell Brak, an international city of its day in north eastern Syria. Believed to be votives representing the offerer, their wide eyes demonstrate their attentiveness to the gods.
